A dangerous condition associated with the release of energy caused by an electrical arc.

Safety First

Arc flash hazards are present in every power distribution system and are a serious danger to both electrical equipment, and, more importantly, to personnel.

As system operation (i.e. selective coordination) is crucial to the reliability of a power distribution system, design engineers are often stuck with the choice between mitigating an arc flash hazard or ensuring system reliability.

GE has identified this issue and developed a patented technology to ensure that the safety of equipment and personnel never has to be compromised in order to ensure a reliable system.

This technology, which is simply a faster, smarter microprocessor based chipped used in protective relays, ensures that the arc flash hazard present in a power distribution system is mitigated as much as possible, while allowing for optimal selective coordination for system reliability.

If you would like to learn more about the effects of arc flash hazards on equipment and personnel, and what you can do to ensure your team is prepared, we would be more than happy to set up a Lunch n Learn session.
